VINCENTIA, Sister (Ellen Elizabeth Collett) -Sister Vincentia died peacefully in her sleep at Mount St. Joseph, Peterborough, Ontario on Sunday, October 5th, 2008 in her 76th year of her religious life. She was the daughter of Vincent Collett and his wife Mary O'Doherty of Port Hope, Ontario. Along with the members of her religious community, she leaves to mourn her cousins, all living in England. She is predeceased by her parents and her brother Vince. Sister Vincentia received her early education in Peterborough, Cobourg and Lindsay. She attended Peterborough Normal School and for the next forty years taught elementary school in Peterborough, Almonte, Fort William, and Port Hope in Ontario as well as in Edmonton, Alberta. Sister Vincentia's name became well known and respected in all educational circles for her work as a member of OFT Board of Governors, Executive Member and President of OECTA and charter and lifetime member of the Canadian College of teachers. After retirement from teaching, she worked in Community Services for 18 years in Port Hope, Almonte and Cobourg. She then volunteered for Continuing Care at the Cobourg Hospital for a number of years. Visitation will be at Mount St. Joseph, Peterborough on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 from 2:00 pm -4:00 pm and 7:00 pm -9:00pm. The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Rev. Leo Coughlin, will be held at Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday, October 8th, 2008 at 11:00 am. This will be followed by interment at St. Peter's Cemetery, Peterborough, Ontario. Arrangements are with the COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME, Peterborough.
